I signed up with Google but tried to log in with a password (or the reverse)

The sign-in page checks your email first and routes you to the right method: if your account is linked to Google it will tell you to use "Continue with Google," and if you signed up with a password it will ask for it. If you are stuck in a loop, use the exact email you originally signed up with and follow what the screen says for that address.
